Song/poem in progress

I wish I were there when you were growing up,
I wish I could always make you smile,
I wish I could solve all of the problems,
I wish I could be by your side.

You’re a lone soldier,
Marching forward,
Fighting off the demons and ghosts,
I only hope that you know,
You’ll be forever in my mind.

I don’t know how to change what’s been done,
I sometimes fail to move forward,
I’m lucky that you have shown me strength,
I never want to see you cry.

So fight off the demons and ghosts,
Never stop fighting,
You are the beacon of hope,
You are always in my mind

That’s for sure

You said that you’d write me a letter,
Confessing your true love for me,
But that letter never came,
Now I’m finishing this,
I’m gone,
I’ve shut that door.

There’s one who loves me,
Wants me,
Respects me,
More than you ever could,
So tonight I’m moving on, moving out, cleaning up for more.

You promised me a ring,
A lifetime with you,
Of bliss,
Of happiness,
Of being with you,
But you took that away from me, when you said that this was it, no more, no more.

You broke my heart and then tried to mend,
It was too late,
My bags were at the door,
I’ve moved on,
That’s for sure.

I wanna get fucked up!

I was playing aroud last night with some lyrics, and it’s meant to be electro/pop but really trashy.
Sorry about all the expletives!

I wanna get fucked up!
I wanna be the best in the world!
I wanna fly like I’m super girl!

I wanna get fucked up!
I wanna be like an acrobat!
Climb up the pole and slide to the base!

I wanna get fucked up!
I don’t care who gets in my way!
Cos they’re gonna be fucked up!

Don’t get in my way,
I’m just having some fun,
It could hurt you,
But I promise only fun!

You wanna get fucked up!
Rock the world in a party hat!
See me fly like an acrobat!
You gonna get fucked up!

This is the time,
The first encounter,
The only chance you get,

We’ll talk the night away,
Have some laughs,
Make a suggestion or two,
But never to be again,

Your the one night stand,
Without ever meeting,
You will never take my hand,

Hope will be made,
Dreams will be had,
But over all,
It’s truely just sad,

This is your one night entertainment,
You never know what you’ll get,
In a world full of strangers,
Who just haven’t logged on yet.

I’d rather have hope,
Even for just one night,
That night when we spoke into the moonlight,
We confessed our dreams,
Our interests,
Our love,
But now it’s over,
Perhaps for just a night.

I’d rather have hope,
Instead of despare,
When we made sure we’d be there,
Forever trapped,
Forever there,
Even for just one moment,
Where nothing seemed lost,
Until the next time,
Which just didn’t come.

I’d rather have hope,
Than just give you up,
Even though I know you want me too,
I won’t,
I can’t,
You push me to the limits,
You know it’s true,
But you made me a better person,
Didn’t you?

I’d rather have hope,
Than to have never dreamt a dream,
A world without imagination,
Doesn’t seem,
Doesn’t seem,
Like a place where I could grow,
Where nobody knows,

I’d rather live in hope,
Than have dreams without you,
Occupying mind,
Invading the soul,
Which now is the only place,
You can call home.

Thanks to the Contagious Network I was sent a copy of this years (but essentially next years) Annual 2010 album. (If you join them, mention that I sent you!)

A fantastically packaged 3 disc treasure trove of dance tracks which are likely going to make your feet move, if not causing your brain to electrically pulsate in desire to get your fresh summer moves out (if you’re in Australia of course!)

Disc one was mixed by John Course, which is essentially your typical house album (as is tradition with most Annuals).

The other day, I performed solo at a queer themed night at Chasers Bar on Chapel St, the night was called Asian Treasure.

I must say, it was quite the experience, while I’ve performed many times before, and mostly with choirs such as the Berwick Youth Choir, Camberwell Chorale, and the Victorian State Singers, the audience at this bar were insistant on being at the bar (leaving some 15 meters for me to use as a stage (in a nightclub, this is a BAD thing for performers!)).

However, I did a fairly good job dealing with this, and still did a pretty good job at Michael Buble’s version of ‘Feeling Good’. The second act was Tina Turner’s ‘Proud Mary’, a song which helped me win my university’s talent competition.

It was singing Proud Mary which helped me reach my musical dream, and realisation. The power of getting people onto a dance floor and singing and dancing along with you is an AMAZING feeling, yes, it took a bit of work pulling people up on stage with me, but they got there eventually and by gosh they had a great time!

If you’re interested in viewing the videos, they’re below the break here.

They’re back, almost!

Yes, Aqua, the band many people wanted to forget with their extra cheese singles, and their unforgivable albums which were more contagious than the swine flu.

The new song is a fantastic tribute to the 80′s while keeping in the traditional form of the Aqua many people grew up with. First listen of the song and you don’t really think it’s anything much, but then with the second and the third, it just clicks into place. The song stays in your mind like Aqua songs always used too.

It’s bright, colourful, provocative, and sure to be something which will attack a dance floor around you soon.

Aqua have announced that they’ll be touring again, mainly around Europe and that the album is part of a “Greatest Hits” collection, of course with a few new songs (which could have been left overs from the ones they were working on before they split up in 2001).

Something which should be considered here is that Aqua’s return to the stage has been done in a way which is clever. They haven’t tried to fool the public into believing that they’re grown up and mature, they haven’t hired a publicist who tells everyone that they have an edgy new mature sound. What they’ve done is kept it small, simple, and let the listeners decide for themselves. They sound mature and calm at the start of the song, and then it quickly revamps back into the Aqua we love.

They take a dig at pretty much everything in modern society, including Eminem and Michael Jackson, however not in a way which is disrespectful. They made this song as a homage to what used to be fantastic, and in one way, they’ve made a historical piece of music which has enough references to keep a history class busy for a semester, through both the lyrics and costumes in the video clip!
